Frenchie Kisses
by Amanda Jones
With their prominent jowls and furrowed brows, French Bulldogs may look a little like Winston Churchill. But when a Frenchie raises his broad, sweet face for a kiss, you know you've never seen a more appealing sight. Frenchie lovers will quickly testify to the undying loyalty of this little dog with big bat ears and a most curious expression. Frenchie Kisses captures the spirit of this one-of-a-kind breed.

French Bulldogs: Lightweights Littermates
by Sharon Montrose
With this emotionally captivating book, the latest addition to her hit Lightweights Littermates series, Montrose trains her camera’s loving and bemused eye on French bulldogs. Her subjects—sweetly defenseless newborns as well as older pups just beginning to explore the world around them—are portrayed in both group and individual shots. But whether they’re huddled tightly together with their brother and sister littermates or bravely venturing out on their own, these little dogs share a common trait. They are adorable.

Gunner and
the Dumbo
Follett, Lt. Dwight W., U.S.N.R. , Illustrated by Don Nelson
A cute little children's book written by a retired Navy man, detailing
the adventures of a brave little military Frenchie. You know, that's
not as odd as you might think, either - take a look at this
photo depicting a Frenchie who was the mascot of one of the
Signal Corps during World War II.
Gunner and the Dumbo was issued in 1945, and is long out of print.
Your only hope is to look for it from antiquarian
booksellers on Amazon , Ebay or rare book stores.

Timothy
Goes to School
by Rosemary Wells
Rosemary Wells' series of Timothy books feature the adventures
of a kindergarten aged Raccoon, and among his school pals are a
pair of twin pups, both named Frank and Frank. We think Frank and
Frank are Frenchies. We hope Frank and Frank are Frenchies. But
we're not sure Frank and Frank are Frenchies. They have rather
bulldog-y heads, but bat ears, and they're both pieds. Heck, let's
just call them Frenchies and leave it at that.

The
Road to Oz
L. Frank Baum illustrated by W. W. Denslow - Available from Amazon.com
The switch to a Border Terrier Toto did not occur until after the
film version was released (interesting trivia - Toto was originally
cast as a Frenchie, but the canine co-star's misbehaviour on the
film set led to his replacement by a more tractable breed). Illustrator
W Denslow's whimsical pictures of Toto's antics make revisiting
this childhood classic worthwhile.Make sure to purchase
books with Denslow's illustrations.

Dog
Shows Then and Now : An Annotated Anthology
Anne M. Hier - Available from Amazon.com
Anne Hier is a long time breeder and judge of both Bulldogs and
Frenchies. Her book, Dog Shows Then and Now, is a detailed look
at the history of dog shows, the evolution of showing, the politics
of the ring, and the history of the Kennel Club. It's well written
and exhaustively researched. For Frenchie owners, you'll find numerous
photographs of French Bulldogs over the years. The book will appeal
mainly to those already involved in showing, but pet owners will
find it give a fascinating glimpse into a world misunderstood by
many, as well as a visual tour of the evolution of French Bulldogs
as a breed.
